Roberts Renovations is a family-run property business founded by Ben and Miriam Roberts. They focus on delivering high-quality renovation, property sourcing and interior design services across West and North Yorkshire.
Combining Ben’s commercial experience with Miriam’s background as an interior architect, the business has developed a practical, design-led approach to property. Together, they work closely with homeowners and investors to take projects from initial idea through to completion, managing each stage of the process in a structured and transparent way.
This has evolved into a turnkey property investment solution, where clients can rely on a single team to source, renovate and deliver projects, rather than managing multiple parties themselves. Alongside client work, they are also building their own portfolio, applying the same approach to sourcing property across Yorkshire.
At its core, Roberts Renovations is built on strong values: family, quality and long-term thinking, with a clear ambition to create a scalable business model that can grow across the UK and beyond.

Objective
When Ben and Miriam joined the Northern Max Accelerator programme in January 2026, the business had recently transitioned into its next phase.
Originally set up by Ben to support Miriam’s expertise in 2025, the business quickly became a shared venture. However, like many early-stage partnerships, they approached the business from different perspectives, with Ben bringing commercial strategy and scaling experience, and Miriam bringing design-led thinking and technical expertise. These skills are both complimentary and challenging, which creates an exciting blend of skills and approach.
Ben had previously built and scaled businesses internationally, spending over a decade in the Middle East automotive sector, working across leasing, rentals and car sales. Returning to the UK, he initially explored a leasing brokerage before pivoting into property. He began building Roberts Renovations in the background before going full-time in November 2025.
By the time they joined Northern Max, the business was already performing strongly, with work secured through to the end of 2027 and operating with low overheads. However, what they needed was alignment, clarity and a structured approach to scaling in the UK market.
Challenge

For both Ben and Miriam, Northern Max delivered value in different ways, but the key impact was alignment.
“The biggest takeaway was getting aligned and having a clear plan for how we approach scaling the business and making sure we’re both working towards the same goals.”
The programme provided Miriam with the fundamental frameworks and theory to complement her design background, while giving Ben a chance to adapt his international experience to the UK market.
Workshops such as customer profiling and avatar development were particularly impactful as they helped them clearly define their target audience and refine their value proposition. This became a turning point in how they communicate and position the business.
The cohort itself also played a key role:
“There was a really good mix of people at different stages and with different ambitions. You learn a lot just from hearing how others are approaching things.”
For Ben, the programme also challenged his mindset. Despite his experience, stepping into a new industry brought a level of imposter syndrome. The Northern Max Accelerator helped Ben build confidence in how Robert’s Renovations present themselves and their journey.

Growth Since the Programme
Since completing the programme, Ben and Miriam have already begun applying key learnings to their business.
The clarity gained from defining their customer avatars has influenced how they approach both service delivery and future investment strategy. It has also reshaped their expectations around funding by giving them a more realistic and strategic understanding of how investment works in practice.
From a commercial perspective, the business is in a strong position. Robert’s Renovations is:
- Already breaking even as a business with low overheads
- On track to reach personal cash flow break-even by mid-2026
- Secured pipeline of work through to 2027
Most importantly, the co-founders now have a shared direction, which is something that will underpin every future decision as they grow.
Looking to the Future
Roberts Renovations has high ambitious but grounded growth plans. In the short term, the focus is on:
- Achieving £150k turnover in 2026
- Scaling to £350k in 2027, at which point they will begin building a team
- Continuing to strengthen their presence across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region
Their longer-term vision is to create a highly scalable business model, potentially expanding into new locations, introducing teams, and exploring franchise or multi-site opportunities.
Ben is clear on the ambition:
“We’re building solid foundations first and then it’s about scaling in the most profitable way. There’s a big opportunity here, so we’re focusing on getting it right.”
With inspiration drawn from successful regional property businesses, their long-term goal is to build a significant, multi-million-pound operation, while maintaining the quality and values that define their brand.
Impact
Northern Max has played a crucial role in helping Ben and Miriam step back and think more strategically about their business. The programme has provided:
- Alignment between founders
- A clear framework for scaling
- Greater confidence in their value proposition and communication
- A network of peers and collaborators they continue to build relationships with
Ben also highlights the impact of the delivery team:
“Russell is great – I really connected with him. The way he delivers the programme is brilliant, and the advice was genuinely valuable. Michelle is fantastic too. That support made a big difference.”
Beyond the content, the relationships built through the programme are already opening doors, with new connections forming that will support future growth.
